Metopia argyrocephala is a species of satellite flies in the family Sarcophagidae. It is unusual among kleptoparasitic flies in that the larvae develop in nests of both bees and wasps.
The silver-headed wasp flies, Arthropoda - Insecta - Diptera - Sparidae. The antennae are bipectinate, with very short ctenid teeth. Lower labial whiskers extend about 1/4 of the way out. Head grayish white. Body stout, dorsum and wings gray-brown with grayish-red tinge. Forewings narrow, slightly convex at the terminal angle, only M1 slightly concave below it; outer margin of hindwings shallowly arched. The wing surface is scattered with dark scattered dots; the forewing middle domain is 1 broad band, slightly darker than the wing surface, nearly yellowish brown; the midpoint is inside the band, grayish white, large and round; the inner side of the outer margin has 3 black dots below the terminal angle.
